Marvel’s The Defenders is not messing around.
Netflix announced Saturday at New York Comic-Con that Sigourney Weaver will be joining the forthcoming Marvel mashup series “playing a significant but unspecified role.”
It was revealed at the NYCC panel that Weaver would in fact portray the series’ Big Bad.
“Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever! She is by definition a class act,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television.
At the end of the panel, The Defenders themselves — Daredevil‘s Charlie Cox, Jessica Jones‘ Krysten Ritter, Luke Cage‘s Mike Colter and Iron Fist‘s Finn Jones — joined Weaver on stage.
“Sigourney Weaver, what more is there to say,” enthused Cindy Holland, VP of original content at Netflix. “She’s a formidable actress and we are thrilled to have her join our remarkable cast alongside Charlie, Krysten, Mike and Finn.”
