The return of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars expectedly dominated Monday night’s ratings.
With NFL preemptions in the Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh markets — or 10.2 percent of the U.S. — now factored out, Season 23’s headline-grabbing (arresting?) opener drew 12.2 million total viewers and a 2.1 rating, up three tenths in the demo from its previous premiere and on par with its fall 2015 kickoff.
Leading out of DWTS, the $100,000 Pyramid finale did 5.3 mil and a 1.0, matching its previous Sunday telecast.
Over on NBC, the newly renewed American Ninja Warrior wrapped its season with 5.9 mil/1.7, up a tenth week-to-week, while Running Wild (3.6 mil/1.2) rose 14 and 20 percent with its finale.
Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance ended its little-watched, low-rated run with 2.3 mil and a 0.7, ticking up from last week.
Leading out of a Big Bang rerun (6 mil/1.1), CBS’ Fall Preview special did 4.9 mil/0.9.
NEXT MONDAY: The Voice, The Big Bang Theory, Gotham and Lucifer return; CBS’ Kevin Can Wait and NBC’s The Good Place premiere.
