Rachel Brosnahan hasn’t just joined the cast of Amy Sherman-Palladino’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, she is the marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The House of Cards actress has been cast as the titular character in the Gilmore Girls creator’s Amazon dramedy pilot, our sister site Deadline reports.
The 1950s-set project follows Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a young Jewish wife who becomes one of the first female standup comedians after her husband leaves her and their two children.
The hour-long potential series is written by AS-P, who will produce with husband Dan Palladino (Gilmore Girls).
Brosnahan’s other TV credits include Manhattan, The Blacklist and Grey’s Anatomy. She also recently was cast in Woody Allen’s upcoming Amazon series.
