“Yo, stars!”
Game-show reboot fever has finally looped back around to Hollywood Squares, which is being developed with a hip-hop sensibility by Ice Cube and VH1.
On the heels of ABC overhauling its summertime Sunday lineup into a “Fun & Games” fest — pairing Celebrity Family Feud with new-but-faithful versions of $100,000 Pyramid and Match Game — VH1 is partnering with the rapper/record producer/actor on Hip-Hop Squares, in which the giant tic-tac-toe board is populated with “the biggest names in hip-hop, comedy and entertainment,” The Hollywood Reporter reports.
VH1 is said to have ordered at least 20 episodes of the series, to premiere this fall. A host was not immediately announced.
