Though she wasn’t present at Comic-Con in San Diego, Anderson managed to get sci-fi/fantasy hearts pumping Saturday by tweeting the first clear, full-length photo of herself dressed as Media — appearing in the guise of Marilyn Monroe — in Bryan Fuller’s upcoming Starz drama American Gods.
Previously, the only glimpse of Media we’d gotten was the one at the top of this post: a hand holding a remote, with a fuzzy, Monroe-ish Anderson in the background.
The Hannibal alum will guest-star in multiple episodes of the Bryan Fuller series as “the mouthpiece for the New Gods, functioning as their public face and sales representative, by taking the form of various iconic celebrities,” the official character description says. “She lives off the attention and worship that people give to screens — to their laptops, their TVs, to their iPhones in their hands while they watch their TVs. Ever the perky spokesperson, and always in control, she spins stories in whatever direction best suits her.”
In related American Gods news, Fuller announced during the series’ Comic-Con panel that Kristin Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies) will play the goddess Easter.
