Ratings: Uncle Buck Delivers TV's Top Summer Comedy Debut in 7 Years

Uncle Buck premiered on Tuesday to 5.2 million total viewers and a 1.5 rating (per finals), delivering ABC’s largest audience in the time slot since December of 2014 and the best demo number in eight months.

ABC notes that Uncle Buck’s tallies mark broadcast TV’s best summertime comedy launch in nine and seven years, respectively. TVLine readers gave the movie adaptation an average grade of “D+.”

Bookending the sitcom, an 8 o’clock edition of the To Tell the Truth revival did 5.2 mil and a 1.0, while its official 10 pm premiere drew 5.2 mil and a 1.2. (Anyone else totally call the redhead as Bendy Bonnie?)

Elsewhere in the ratings….

NBC | America’s Got Talent led the night with 11.5 mil and a 2.6, up three tenths week-to-week. Maya & Marty (5.1 mil/1.3) rose a tenth, winning the 10 o’clock hour.

CBS | Person of Interest (6.3 mil/1.0) was steady with its penultimate hour.

FOX | Hell’s Kitchen Hotel Hell (2.6 mil/0.9) was up, Coupled (1.2 mil/0.4) ticked down.

THE CW | Containment (1 mil/0.3) ticked down to series lows.
