Ratings: Stanley Cup Finals Rise With Game 5, Obama Boosts Tonight Show

NBC’s coverage of the Stanley Cup Finals Game 5 on Thursday night drew 4.6 million total viewers and a 1.4 demo rating, improving upon the fast nationals for Monday’s Game 4 (4 mil/1.3).

Over on Fox, American Grit‘s two-hour finale averaged 2.15 mil and a 0.7, ticking up week-to-week.

The CW’s Beauty and the Beast (760K/0.2) dropped a few eyeballs from its season opener yet was steady in the demo…. CBS’ Big Bang Theory rerun drew Thursday’s largest audience (6.6 million).

In late-night news, President Barack Obama’s visit to The Tonight Show (punctuated by a Madonna performance) gave the NBC talker its best metered-market numbers for a Thursday telecast in more than two years, since Feb. 20, 2014 (when First Lady Michelle Obama partook in Jimmy Fallon’s debut week).

Very happy the San Jose Sharks survive in the Stanley Cup Finals but I have a feeling that it should end in 7.
