The Getting On and Scream Queens actress is joining the Showtime drama’s upcoming fourth season as an Alcoholics Anonymous chairperson running Masters’ (Michael Sheen) court-ordered daily meetings. Her character, Louise Bell, fervently believes in AA’s message, and uses it to push the relentlessly stubborn Masters to reevaluate his life. She’s set to appear in multiple episodes.
In other Masters casting news, Nurse Jackie‘s Betty Gilpin has signed on to recur as Nancy, a former medical student of Barton’s (Beau Bridges) who partners with Masters adding a second MD to the practice, which should delight Lizzy Caplan’s Virginia to no end.
As we previously reported, Masters‘ new season will also feature Being Erica star Erin Karpluk as a patient who comes to see Masters and Johnson when her sex life with her husband is in jeopardy.
Season 4 of Masters (premiering Sunday, Sept. 11, at 10/9c) begins in 1968, and, per Showtime, will “take viewers into the swinging ‘70s, during which time the series’ characters will take on new partners both professionally, personally and sexually.
