Vacation funnyman Skyler Gisondo has been cast opposite Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant (Justified) in Netflix’s forthcoming comedy Santa Clarita Diet.
The single-camera sitcom, which was recently ordered straight to series, follows Joel (Olyphant) and Sheila (Barrymore), husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives until the latter goes through a dramatic change, sending them down a path of death and destruction — but in a good way. Gisondo will play Eric, the awkward boy next door with a love of science and a crush on Abby, Joel and Sheila’s yet-to-be cast daughter.
The series, which is set for a 2017 debut, was created by Victor Fresco, who previously gave us (the still-much-missed) Better Off Ted. Barrymore and Olyphant also serve as executive producers.
Gisondo’s previous TV credits including a starring role opposite Jennifer Lawrence on The Bill Engvall Show, a recurring part on Psych and guest appearances on House, ER and Once Upon a Time.
