Damien Cancelled at A&E

The Grim Reaper has made off with Damien.

A&E has cancelled the Omen-inspired drama after one low-rated season, TVLine has learned.

Exec producer Glen Mazzara confirmed the news on Twitter late Friday. “This hurts to say but Damien will not be getting a second season,” he wrote. “Thank you from all of us to our amazing fans… So sorry we won’t be able to continue our story for you.

“I really loved making Damien — we all did,” he continued. “We just never got the numbers there. Gave it our best shot.”

Damien got off to a hellish ratings start last March, with its premiere drawing just 753K viewers and a 0.3 demo rating. TVLine readers gave the show’s debut a tepid “B” grade, which was far better than the “D” it merited from TVLine’s Michael Slezak, who urged horror fans to “show no sympathy for this devil — instead, cast it back into the pit from whence it came.”

What’s your reaction to Damien‘s demise? Disappointed? Indifferent? Weigh in below.
