Pioneering WWE legend Joanie “Chyna” Laurer, who found renewed fame as a reality-TV star, has died. She was 46.
According to the Associated Press, Laurer — whose TV gigs included a celeb edition of NBC’s Fear Factor, VH1’s The Surreal Life and an episode of 3rd Rock From the Sun — was found dead Wednesday evening in her home outside Los Angeles after police responded to a 911 call from a friend who found her not breathing after not answering phone calls for several days.
A cause of death has not been released.
“It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero,” read a statement on Chyna’s official Twitter and Facebook accounts. “Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her.”
