One Day at a Time‘s latest casting is nothing short of super.
Todd Grinnell will co-star in Netflix’s 13-episode comedy as off-beat building superintendent Schneider, the only character from Normal Lear’s original series to appear in the reboot, our sister site Deadline reports.
Like the reboot itself, which now focuses on a Cuban-American family, Schneider has also reportedly undergone a few tweaks; he’s now the privileged son of the building’s owner, who allows him to live there rent-free in exchange for working as the manager.
Grinnell — whose TV résume includes roles on shows like Grace & Frankie, Revenge and Desperate Housewives — joins previously announced cast members Justina Machado (as single mom Penelope) and Rita Moreno (as Penelope’s Cuban-born mother).
The original One Day at a Time, which counted Bonnie Franklin and Valerie Bertinelli among its stars, ran from 1975 to 1984 on CBS. Will you be checking out the reboot? Drop a comment with your thoughts below.
