That Emma Stone-Jonah Hill comedy series wasn’t out in the marketplace for long.
Netflix is close to placing a 10-episode order for Maniac, an adaptation of the Norwegian dark comedy series starring Stone and Hill, Deadline reports.
Having premiered last year in Norway, Maniac follow a young man (Hill) who’s living a fantastic life, but only in a fantasy world — all while he’s actually locked up inside a mental institution. Stone plays a fellow patient.
True Detective‘s Cary Fukunaga is in talks to possibly direct every episode, as well as serve as an executive producer alongside Stone and Hill.
An Academy Award nominee for Birdman, Stone’s previous small screen credits include Tim Minear’s Drive and episodes of Medium, Malcom in the Middle and 30 Rock. Hill, a two-time Oscar nominee, appeared on the Oxygen sitcom Campus Ladies and, like Stone, has hosted the occasional Saturday Night Live.
