The CW’s Riverdale has found another parental resident in Witches of East End alumna Mädchen Amick.
The actress will play Betty’s mother Alice Cooper in the Archie comics-inspired drama pilot, our sister site Deadline reports.
Local newspaper editor Alice is a steely perfectionist who places exceedingly high expectations on her daughter (Surviving Jack‘s Lili Reinhart).
The potential series, which hails from über-producer Greg Berlanti and writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Supegirl, Looking), is described as a “subversive” take on the famous characters and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade. The ensemble includes newcomers KJ Apa and Camila Mendes as Archie and Veronica, respectively, Cole Sprouse (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) as Jughead, Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210) as Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews, and Marisol Nichols (Teen Wolf) as Veronica’s mom, Hermione Lodge.
Amick recently appeared on American Horror Story: Hotel and Netflix’s Love.
