Niecy Nash to Star in Fox's Female Buddy Comedy Pilot The Enforcers

Niecy Nash in The Enforcers

There’s no escaping it: Shoddy crime-fighting is in Niecy Nash‘s blood.

The comic dynamo, who played keystone cops on Reno 911! and Scream Queens, has landed the co-lead in The Enforcers, Fox’s female buddy comedy pilot about second-tier patrolwomen.

From former Friends scribes Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer, the single-camera project centers on two wildly different single mothers who find themselves partnered as inspectors in the Code Enforcement Department. But instead of fighting crime, they have been relegated to handling petty code breaking, like noise complaints, tree trimming and water misuse.

Nash plays M.J., the more outspoken of the two. After struggling through a variety of odd jobs to provide for her children, she is thrilled to land the job of “code cop,” hoping it will bring her a sense of legitimacy. It does not.

Sitcom vet Gail Mancuso (Roseanne, Modern Family) will direct the pilot and serve as an EP alongside Bilsing-Graham and Kreamer.

Nash recently wrapped a three-season run on HBO’s Getting On. She also appears as a regular on The Soul Man, which is heading into its fifth and final season on TV Land.
