A hopped-up Mulder excited about sketchy evidence of otherworldly phenomenon? A bemused Scully sighing as she wraps up an autopsy?
Just like old times, eh X-Files fans?
The exclusive clip above is from this Monday’s episode, “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster” (Fox, 8/7c), written and directed by beloved X-Files scribe/producer Darin Morgan.
Though the comedic hour is a lot of fun to watch, Morgan tells TVLine it was a beast to shoot.
The post-production staff “would always go, ‘Oh, it looks like it was so much fun to shoot,’ and I would always give them the same answer, which is, ‘Nobody had any fun filming this episode except for Kumail,'” he says, laughing. “He had so much fun that he made up for everybody else.”
Morgan refers to Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani, who’s a giant fan of the series and guest-stars as an animal-control officer in the episode.
“It was actually a really difficult shoot,” Morgan adds, citing an especially warm week in Vancouver — where the revival filmed — and many long days. “But no kidding, Kumail had the time of his life.”
