Jennifer Beals (The L Word) is scrubbing in for an extended residency at San Antonio Medical Center.
The actress, who recently starred in TNT’s one-and-done Proof, is joining NBC’s The Night Shift in a recurring role, Deadline reports.
Beals will first be introduced in the Season 3 premiere as Dr. Syd Jennings, a major in the army working alongside Brendan Fehr’s Dr. Drew Alister on a six-month tour in Afghanistan.
A return date for the medical drama — which started out as a summer series, but last year premiered in late February — has not yet been announced.
Beals’ previous TV credits also include The Mob Doctor, The Chicago Code, Castle and Lie to Me.
