NBC on Thursday picked up four comedy pilots, including one set in the DC Comics universe.
Powerless, from Ben Queen (A to Z), is described as a single-camera workplace comedy “about the exceedingly average employees at an insurance company and their quest to find their own power” as they mop up after superheroes’ town-trashing clashes.
NBC’s other pilot pick-ups include Marlon, which is loosely based on Marlon Wayans’ life, starring the actor/comedian as an “inappropriate but loving father”; a single-cam comedy from 30 Rock/Mindy Project scribe Tracey Wigfield, about a clingy mother who interns at her daughter’s workplace; and one based on the life of 30 Rock/Parks and Rec writer-producer Matt Hubbard, about a guy who moves his family to his wife’s hometown.
