History Knights Templar

History Orders Knights Templar Drama; Jeremy Renner to Produce, Guest-Star

Having vividly explored the brutal world of Vikings, History will next shed light on the Knights Templar in Knightfall, a scripted series about the elite warriors of the Crusades.

The cabler ordered a 10-episode first season of the series, which will be produced by A+E Studios in association with Jeremy Renner’s production company, The Combine, and Midnight Radio. The Oscar- and Golden Globe-nominated Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town) is expected to also guest-star.

Per History, Knightfall will premiere in late 2016 and reveal the great secrets protected by the Templars and tells the story of faith, loyalty and brotherhood that help sustain these warriors on the battlefield, and the dark events that would forever sear the infamous date of Friday the 13th into the world’s psyche.

“We are thrilled to partner with Jeremy Renner, The Combine, Midnight Radio and A+E Studios to tell the intriguing story of the Knights Templar, which has been shrouded in mystery until now,” History president Paul Buccieri said in a statement. “Premium scripted content continues to be a growing part of the History portfolio, with an eye towards quality historical fact-based storytelling, and Knightfall is the perfect fit for our brand.”

  1. Well, so he can do TV. Hopefully he’ll agree to appear on Agents of SHIELD someday too.

  2. Dani says:

Yay. More historical dramas, and about the Knights Templars. I definitely like the topic better than the vikings. History should make more shows about actual history that occured hundred of years ago, instead of biker and gang shows. Leave those shows to other networks and stick to history!

  3. Dean says:

Big fan of Vikings so this makes me curious. When the Templars were excommunicated the end result was bloody I expect the portrayals to be the same.

  4. Leslie Davis says:
