True Blood alum Alexander Skarsgard is putting down stakes at HBO again with a co-starring role opposite Oscar winner Nicole Kidman in the cabler’s star-studded limited series Big Little Lies, TVLine has learned.
David E. Kelley is penning the eight-episode adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s 2014 darkly comic novel about three three mothers (Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley) of kindergartners whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to the point of murder.
Skarsgard will play Perry Wright, devoted husband to Kidman’s Celeste.
Revenge vet James Tupper, meanwhile, has been cast as the ex-husband of Witherspoon’s Madeline.
The enviable ensemble also includes the previously announced Adam Scott (as Madeline’s current husband), Laura Dern (as an anti-bullying crusader) and Zoë Kravitz (as the wife of Tupper’s character)
Production begins in January.
