Brooklyn Nine-Nine Hits Mother Lode, Casts Katey Sagal as Jake's Mom

Katey Sagal Brooklyn Nine-Nine

How’s this for some arresting stunt casting: Brooklyn Nine-Nine has tapped Sons of Anarchy vet Katey Sagal to play the MIA mother of Andy Samberg’s Jake, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Sagal’s character, Karen Peralta, will turn up in an early ’16 episode that will also mark the return of Jake’s dad Roger, played by Bradley Whitford (The West Wing, Transparent).

Per B99 lore, Jake was 7 years-old when his dad left home, leaving Sagal’s Karen to raise him by herself. In other words, expect a tense family reunion.

The gig brings Married With Children alum Sagal back into the Fox half-hour comedy fold. The actress most recently starred in FX’s The Bastard Executioner.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Christmas-themed fall finale airs this Sunday on Fox.
