“I don’t mean to be judgmental… but I am.”
Chelsea Handler was never one to mince words on her E! series, so why should she start now?
The comedienne’s Netflix documentary series, Chelsea Does, will be available Saturday, Jan. 23, the streaming video service announced Monday. A day earlier, Handler’s new show will make its world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
The four-part project finds Handler “exploring topics of personal and universal fascination, from marriage to dugs, to racism and Silicon Valley,” per the official description.
The trailer bears that out, as Handler engages in activities like trying on flouncy wedding gowns (“Wow, that’s so stupid,” she says as a saleswoman adjusts her veil), smoking pot with Willie Nelson (“It’s like sex,” he says of varying marijuana quality, “Some’s better than others, but it’s all good”) and defending her decision to dress sidekick Chuy as Hitler (“It was Hanukkah”) to the Anti-Defamation League.
