Less than a year after White Collar wrapped its six-season run, Matt Bomer is looking to headline his next TV series.
Bomer, who currently stars on FX’s American Horror Story: Hotel, will play 1930s movie mogul Monroe Stahr, a character inspired by Hollywood legend Irving Thalberg. The series, like the source novel, will follow Monroe’s rise as a studio executive, a journey which eventually puts him at odds with studio head Pat Brady — who also happens to be Monroe’s mentor. Brady is inspired by MGM co-founder Louis B. Mayer.
The pilot was written by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips), who will also direct.
