Jada Pinkett Smith Crime Drama (From Castle Scribe) Gets ABC Pilot Order

Is Jada Pinkett Smith about to be queen of her own Castle?

The Gotham and Hawthorne vet will executive produce and star in Murder Town, written by Castle‘s Barry Schindel, which has scored a put pilot commitment from ABC (meaning the network will pay a heavy fine if the project is not picked up to series). Our sister site Deadline broke the news.

Pinkett Smith will play Wilmington, Del.’s first African-American District Attorney, a woman juggling a headline-generating case that stirs racial tensions in her city and a devastating truth about her murdered husband.

Pinkett Smith exited Gotham last spring after a one-season stint.

Schindel is also known for his work on Numb3rs, Law & Order and the short-lived Intelligence.
