Rashida Jones’ new police comedy has already copped a second season, well ahead of its January 2016 debut.
TBS announced on Thursday that Angie Tribeca has been renewed for a 10-episode Season 2 — or as its press release joked, the pick-up is for “season 2-11, each of which consists of one episode.”
The new comedy’s 10-episode freshman order will unspool all at once, opening a commercial-free, 25-hour marathon, on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 9/8c.
Season 2 will then roll out all old-school style — weekly! — starting Monday, Jan. 25 at 8:30 pm.
Counting Steve and Nancy Carell among its executive producers, Angie Tribeca stars Parks and Recreation alum Jones as the titular detective, a lone wolf who is none too happy when partnered with J Geils, played by Hayes MacArthur (Go On).
The cast also includes Jere Burns (Justified) as the squad’s apoplectic captain; Deon Cole (Conan) as detective Danny Tanner; and Andrée Vermeulen (Upright Citizen’s Brigade) as Dr. Monica Scholls, the quirky medical examiner.
