Jay Leno Returns to Tonight Show to Deliver Opening Monologue — VIDEO

Tonight Show viewers experienced a serious case of deja-vu on Tuesday when Jay Leno stepped in for an “injured” Jimmy Fallon to deliver the opening monologue.

It was Leno’s first appearance on The Tonight Show since stepping down as host in February 2014 and he seemed to relish the homecoming, cracking a string of really funny and exceptionally delivered jokes about the circus-like presidential race.

Leno was on hand to promote his new CNBC show Jay Leno’s Garage which premieres Wednesday.

Press PLAY above and then head to the comments to rate Leno’s mini-Tonight Show comeback. Did it make you miss the good ol’ days of late-night?

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

    Leno is funny!

  3. Beckers0505 says:

That was awesome! He will still always be my favorite!

    • NC says:

Mine too. I think Jimmy is funny as all hell but Jay just knew how to talk to guests. Jimmy is always interrupting his guests as they talk because he is trying to be funny. Jay just had a way of communicating with his guests that made it feel organic. Jimmy makes it feel forced

    • prish says:

The husband says Jay Leno has a special talent with the monologue, his being funnier than anyone else, even, Johnny Carson.

  4. Jack says:

He just does not know how to stay away

  5. NC says:

It actually wasn’t his first appearance on the show since he stepped down. He was on about a year or so ago as a guest. Also he did a skit with Jimmy Fallon a while back too.

  6. A fan of TV says:

Oh dear god, when you say you’re retiring, retire already. Are we waiting for third time’s the charm before you finally just go, sir?

  7. J. Peden says:

Jay, How can we miss you when you won’t go away? Leno has made sure he’s in the entertainment news every month since he ‘retired’. Please, you scammed you way in, you retired, then you scammed your way back in at another host’s cost. Go away already!

  8. Preacher Book says:

Watch out Jimmy! Jay’s the guest who never leaves.
