Steven Soderbergh‘s newest project already has him clearing space on the mantle for an Emmy.
The prolific producer is developing Mosaic, an HBO series that will let viewers control the storyline.
Details about Mosaic are being kept under wraps, but Sharon Stone is reportedly set to star, and the audience may be able to use an app that will determine the outcome of the plot.
In a statement to EW.com, Soderbergh said the choose-your-own-adventure storytelling technique will benefit Mosaic come awards season: “I believe the good people at HBO are genuinely enthusiastic about Mosaic for two reasons: First, it represents a fresh way of experiencing a story and sharing that experience with others; second, it will require a new Emmy category, and we will be the only eligible nominee.”
Soderbergh currently produces and directs Cinemax’s medical drama The Knick, and he will next oversee Starz’s The Girlfriend Experience, an anthology series based on Soderbergh’s film of the same name.
