Ratings: Dancing With the Stars Returns Steady, Ninja Warrior Hits Finale Highs

ABC’s Dancing With the Stars opened Season 21 on Monday night with 13.6 million total viewers and a 2.3 demo rating, on par with both its year-ago (13.6 mil/2.4) and spring 2015 (14.2 mil/2.1) premieres.

That said, ABC’s numbers are subject to adjustment due to local NFL preemptions.

Leading out of DWTS, that #DanceBattle thing did 5.7 mil/1.1, bleeding audience from half hour to half hour.

NBC | A historic American Ninja Warrior drew 6.1 mil and a 2.0, up 18 percent in the demo week-to-week and delivering the show’s best finale numbers ever.

FOX | So You Think Can Dance wrapped its hotly contested Stage vs. Street season with 2.4 mil/0.8, up a tenth in the demo week-to-week but down a good 40 percent from its previous finale.

THE CW | Penn & Teller (1.5 mil/0.5) and Significant Mother (530K/0.2) each dipped a tenth, while Whose Line (1.1 mil/0.3) dropped to a series low.

Do you have comparison numbers of Dancing with the early days when they had more established start participating?

Not surprising ANW peaks for the final 3 weeks. That’s when it really counts.

Perfectly stated. ABC/Disney is more concerned with pushing racial agendas than giving people quality stars and quality programming. I mean, 4 black guys (which constitutes only 6% of the American population) with 4 blonde girls. Gee, how original. Totally not obvious what they’re trying to push to the young White impressionable teenage girl viewers, or anything. ((eye roll)) I mean, why no professional black female dancers??? Seems pretty sexist and racist,to me. Always the black guys with the White girls, however. I’m surprised they didn’t get a transexual in there, as well. They don’t have to worry about getting gay guys, at least, as all of the professional guys are gay (whether open about it or not). What a freak show. Had to watch this junk with my wife. That’ll be a first and last.
