ABC’s Dancing With the Stars opened Season 21 on Monday night with 13.6 million total viewers and a 2.3 demo rating, on par with both its year-ago (13.6 mil/2.4) and spring 2015 (14.2 mil/2.1) premieres.
That said, ABC’s numbers are subject to adjustment due to local NFL preemptions.
Leading out of DWTS, that #DanceBattle thing did 5.7 mil/1.1, bleeding audience from half hour to half hour.
Elsewhere:
NBC | A historic American Ninja Warrior drew 6.1 mil and a 2.0, up 18 percent in the demo week-to-week and delivering the show’s best finale numbers ever.
FOX | So You Think Can Dance wrapped its hotly contested Stage vs. Street season with 2.4 mil/0.8, up a tenth in the demo week-to-week but down a good 40 percent from its previous finale.
THE CW | Penn & Teller (1.5 mil/0.5) and Significant Mother (530K/0.2) each dipped a tenth, while Whose Line (1.1 mil/0.3) dropped to a series low.
COMING NEXT MONDAY: The season premieres of The Big Bang Theory, Castle, Gotham, NCIS: Los Angeles, Scorpion and The Voice, plus the series premieres for Blindspot, Minority Report and Life in Pieces.
