AMC has granted a series order to Preacher, its adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s 1990s comic, the cabler announced Wednesday.
Film star Seth Rogen, who is exec-producing the project with Evan Goldberg (This Is the End), touted the pick-up on Twitter, as well as shared a poster.
Preacher centers on Rev. Jesse Custer (played by Agent Carter‘s Dominic Cooper), a conflicted Texas minister who merges with a spiritual force called Genesis — making him more mighty than the Almighty.
Joined by his gun-toting girlfriend Tulip (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Ruth Negga) and the hard-drinking Irish vampire Cassidy (Misfits‘ Joseph Gilgun), Custer begins a violent journey across the country in search of answers from a disenfranchised God.
Lucy Griffiths (True Blood) and Ian Colletti (Rake) also star in the project, as Emily Woodrow and Eugene Root aka Arseface.
Preacher, which received a 10-episode order, is expected to debut in mid-2016.
