A House of Cards vet is set to deal Luke Cage a load of trouble.
Mahershala Ali, who plays morally flexible Remy Danton on Netflix’s inaugural original drama, has been cast on the streamer’s Marvel’s Luke Cage superhero series as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, a Harlem nightclub owner whose criminal activities position him as an adversary for the title character (played by The Good Wife’s Mike Coulter).
Other recent castings include Alfre Woodard (as a powerful politico named Minetta), Sons of Anarchy’s Theo Rossi (as career criminal Shades) and Simone Missick (as possibly Misty Knight), while Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple from Netflix’s Daredevil.
Ali’s previous TV credits also include Alphas, Treme, The 4400 and Crossing Jordan. His casting was first reported by Marvel.com.
Marvel’s Luke Cage will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
