Oscars Twist: 2016 Academy Awards Ceremony Will Have 2 Hosts

James Franco and Anne Hathaway, don’t wait by your phones.

The 2016 Academy Award ceremony will feature two hosts for the first time since 2011’s disastrous Franco-Hathaway experiment.

“There will be multiple hosts for sure – there will be two,” Oscar producer David Hill tells EW.com. “Two is better than one.”

Hill declined to name which dynamic duos he’s circling for the Oscarcast, but the rumor mill is churning out the following comedic dream teams: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog, and Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell.

The 2016 Academy Awards will air Sunday, February 28, 2016 on ABC.

  1. Ann says:

please, Tina and Amy!! I am not sure if they are Oscar-ready. Well, I don´t think if the public is ready for them.

    • Hodan says:

They would great. I also would not mind if John Stewart and Stephen Colbert hosted together as well. They are soo awesome.

    • Lucifer says:

No thanks. They were great the first year at the Golden Globes, but their latest outing was very lackluster and they clearly ran out of material.

    • Poster4392 says:

Amy and Tina! I think I heard they were doing the Globes again this year though. Maybe I made that up in my head. If they are, I cant imagine them hosting the Oscars too.

I cant bear (bare?) to watch the Oscars anymore, haven’t watched a whole ceremony in about 10 years, but how bad could Anne and James have been? The jokes are already written and the teleprompter is there. I think writers are to blame, not the hosts.

  2. Bob Barker says:

I hope it is Matt Stone and Trey Parker

  3. Maria says:

I always thought that Will Smith would be an excellent Oscar host. Just him, without a co-host.

    • Hodan says:

When Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith hosted the BET Awards back in 2005 I believe, they killed it. They were the perfect duo to host.

  4. Tom says:

Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal please

    • tvjunkie says:

why would you want to put a rapist supporter like Whoopie on TV?

      • EvenTheseGreatTeamsCan'tSAveBoringOscarsRatings says:

Whoopie and Jill Scott are NOT supporting Cosby anymore. I give them credit for initially supporting Mr. C, but when numbers of victims and his confession left no doubt, they both immediately apologized to the victims and withdrew their support. It’s too bad they couldn’t have believed the victims when they first came out in small numbers, but at least they are woman enough to admit they were wrong.

      • CK2 says:

Roman Polanski and his multitude of supporters would like to know why you are trying to get them thrown off the broadcast.

  5. TVFan says:

As much as I would love to see Kermit & Piggy hosting, I just don’t see that working well on live TV. The only other team I would like to see hosting would be Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert. Unfortunately, with the Oscars on ABC and Colbert hosting a talk show on CBS, that probably won’t happen either.

  6. Jacko says:

    Ant and Dec

  7. Sean Cosgrave says:

    Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse

  8. Cc says:

    Piper and Audrey from Scream.
I really hope someone gets that lol

  9. John036 says:

    Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Amy and Tina would just insult everybody. Sometimes their humor is tasteless.

  11. Rob says:

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence FTW!

  12. fedfan81 says:

The muppets or Will Farrell and Kristin Wiig are the worst possible choices. Key and Peele are ok same as Poehler and Fey. I would go with Fallon and Timberlake but I doubt that ABC is interested in promoting another channels late night host.

    • EvenTheseGreatTeamsCan'tSAveBoringOscarsRatings says:

Fallon and Timberlake! excellent idea. They’d be my #2 tied with Schumer/Lawrence and behind Pohler/Fey. (I don’t think the Academy would ever go for Schumer, though I wish they would. They’d be too scared she’d be talking too much honest sex stuff, ya know?

  13. Estelle says:

    Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant

  14. pamill says:

    Amy Poehler & Tina Fey
    Anne Hathaway & Emily Blunt
    Emma Thompson & Meryl Streep
    Meryl Streep & Sandra Bullock
    Sandra Bullock & Melissa McCarthy
    Melissa McCarthy & Kristen Wiig
    Kristen Wiig & Bill Hader
    Bill Hader & Amy Schumer
    Amy Schumer & Jennifer Lawrence
    Amy Schumer & Anna Kendrick
    Anna Kendrick & Rebel Wilson

I’m good with any one of those duos.

  15. Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon would be a-maz-ing!!

  16. Jake says:

    Connie Chung & Hughes Rudd

  17. Kake says:

No, please no. It should only be one host

  18. iHeart says:

hey why not I wanted the mupppets to host 3 years ago after Murphy bailed. I’m not against any of these choices (but why are they making it act like it’s a twist, it has happened before)

  19. kayell says:

    Arnold Schwarzanegger and Sylvester Stallone
    Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn
David O. Russel and Jennifer Lawrence
    Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper

  20. EvenTheseGreatTeamsCan'tSAveBoringOscarsRatings says:

    My choices are:

    (1) Amy Poehler & Tina Fey

    (2) Amy Schumer & Jennifer Lawrence

    (3) Colbert & Stewart

    (4) Will Farrel & Mark Wahlberg (and Andy Samberg as Mark Wahlberg for one short appearance only.

  21. Nicole says:

Tina and Amy for the win!!!

  22. Pixworks says:

Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers would make a great pair!

  23. Becky says:

Tina and Amy or Jon and Stephen. I’ll watch either of those, for sure.

  24. Dude says:

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence…that is all

  25. Mallory says:

Neil Patrick Harris and Hugh Jackman, please and thank you!

  26. Susan says:

Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon would be awesome!!!

  27. matty says:

Tina and Amy for the win please! or how about Neil Patrick Harris and Queen Latifah?

  28. Rockell says:

Why not just make it three? I. e. The Lonely Island!
I’m sure Andy will prove himself an adept host during his stint at the Emmys :)

  29. Jamie says:

I’m over Awards shows but if Justin Timberlake & Jimmy Fallon hosted the Oscars I’d tune in.
