The Simpsons Taps Andrew Rannells for Season 27 Guest Stint

Andrew Rannells on The Simpsons

Andrew Rannells is returning to his Broadway roots… by way of The Simpsons.

The Girls actor is set to play himself in a spring episode of Fox’s never-ending ‘toon, TVLine has learned exclusively.

In the installment, slated to air in early April, Marge takes Lisa on a girls’ weekend touristy trip to Capitol City, where they attend a performance of Bad News Bears: The Musical starring Rannells. During a backstage meet-and-greet after the show, Rannells reminds Lisa — who’s going through a rough spell with Marge — that she should feel lucky to have such a great mom.

Rannells originated the role of Elder Price in Broadway’s enduring smash Book of Mormom. Last August, he briefly returned to the Great White Way to succeed Neil Patrick Harris’ in Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

He recently completed work on Season 5 of Girls, which is slated to bow in early 2016.

The Simpsons‘ 27th season kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 8/7c on Fox.
