Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Bill Hader Cast as Precinct's New Captain

Bill Hader Brooklyn Nine-Nine

We now know who will be on the other side of those elevator doors when Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns: Bill Hader.

The Saturday Night Live vet will guest-star in the Fox comedy’s Season 3 premiere as the precinct’s new captain, TVLine has confirmed.

Hader’s character — who will only guest-star in Episode 1, as of now — will fill the vacancy left by Andre Braugher’s Captain Holt, who was forced into an NYPD public relations desk job by his nemesis Madeline Wuntch (Kyra Sedgwick) in the Season 2 finale.

Co-showrunner Mike Schur recently told TVLine that the new captain’s identity “is far from the final surprise” in the season premiere, adding, “It takes a lot of fun story twists and turns, in very rapid succession, once the new captain is announced. It’s going to be a really funny and good episode.”
