Ratings: ESPY Awards Triple Audience in ABC Broadcast Debut

ABC’s broadcast of this year’s ESPY Awards drew 7.7 million total viewers and a 2.2 demo rating, leading Wednesday night in both measures and tripling the audience for the kudoscast’s year-ago airing on ESPN/ESPN2.

In overnight metered market ratings, the telecast — which included Arthur Ashe Courage Award recipient Caitlyn Jenner’s first public appearance — improved 253 percent on last year’s numbers.


CBS | Big Brother (6 mil/1.9) dipped a tenth week-to-week, while Extant (4.6 mil/0.6) slipped 10 and 25 percent, to new series lows.

FOX | MasterChef (4.7 mil/1.4) fell three tenths in the demo, while Bullseye (2.6 mil/0.8) dipped one tenth.
