“You need to spend less time online, OK?”
While that’s sound advice if your days are being eaten up by cat videos and listicles, it’s not that great an idea if you’re days away from actually being eaten.
Yet that’s the advice that Fear the Walking Dead guidance counselor Madison — played by Kim Dickens (Deadwood) — gives a frightened student who relays reports of a mysterious, quick-spreading illness that’s already hit five states.
The Walking Dead prequel is set in the Los Angeles area during the early days of the zombie apocalypse, which means that members of the general public have yet to learn what
fresh decaying hell awaits them in the coming years. And, like Dickens’ character, they’re inclined to believe that the authorities would have any emergency situation under control. (Hindsight is 20/20, eh?)
The series’ cast also includes Cliff Curtis (Gang Related), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) and Shawn Hatosy (Southland).
