A Deadly Adoption Trailer: Get a First Look at Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig's Lifetime 'Dramatic Thriller'

The suspense is over: Lifetime is finally offering a first look at its mysterious and mystifying TV movie starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig.

The female-skewing cabler has released a teaser trailer for A Deadly Adoption, which it describes as a “high-stakes dramatic thriller” about a successful couple (Ferrell and Wiig) who take in a pregnant woman (90210‘s Jessica Lowndes) during the final months of her pregnancy with the hopes of adopting her kid.

From the looks of the short clip above, it certainly seems like Ferrell and Wiig are playing their roles fairly straight. What do you think? Press PLAY above, and then save the date: A Deadly Adoption airs Saturday, June 20 at 8/7c.

  1. Melora says:

Ok was this like the Grace Kelly film and couldn’t get a distributor? Is this Lifetime’s new thing?

    • Ame says:

As I understood it they created it themselves FOR lifetime.

    • Dude says:

It’s a satire of Lifetime films so why would they not produce it FOR Lifetime?

    • johnhelvete says:

I dont think every new movie that airs Saturday night at 8pm is made by Lifetime. Grace of Monaco and the Saorise Ronan film Stockholm PA are just more high profile films that played at film festivals than some of the other films Lifetime picks up.

  2. wrstlgirl says:

Infamous. Never heard of it, LOL.

  3. Wordsmith says:

I was so sure this was an April Fool’s joke. If it is, points to them for commitment to the gag.

  4. alistaircrane says:

I thought the actors pulled out when news of this project leaked?

    • Wordsmith says:

Supposedly it was already shot by that point, they just decided not to release it, which seemed like a weird decision at the time (why scrap a project when it’s actually GAINING buzz?). I guess they changed their minds.

      • Dude says:

More like, Will Ferrel decided he had more power than the network and demanded they not air it even though he had already signed a contract and shot the film which they paid for. I never expected Lifetime to listen to him, it’s not like they have to worry about maintaining good relationships with them. When will Will Ferrel and Kristen Wiig do another Lifetime movie?

    • johnhelvete says:

Unlike the other two posters that responded to the question, the response to the leak was just another gag to make people question if the project is real or fake.

    • Robby says:

Will Ferrell’s dad should have ‘pulled out’.

  5. Dude says:

Not available in Canada…even though it’s airing on Lifetime in Canada. Really Lifetime?

  6. Julia says:

I am so confused by this movie. Is it truly a parody?? They aren’t selling it that way.

  7. Brandon says:

It’s clearly only a parody for those who are in on the joke. I can’t wait!

  8. KevyB says:

I’m still not convinced. A trailer with TWO scenes in it? And he’s wearing a bloody hoodie but his button-down beneath seems pretty unaffected by anything. It seems like, “Let’s go film a trailer for this thing really quick!” What leads into that scene? He’s sitting around reading the paper and gets a phone call? “Oh no! That pregnant woman kidnapped my wife, I better put on this bloody sweater and find them on a random road!”

Maybe it’s a real thing, but that trailer is NOT a good selling point.
