Golan the Insatiable Sneak Peek: Rob Riggle, Aubrey Plaza Preview Their Twisted Monster-Child Friendship

Mix one part totalitarian ruler with one part arrested manchild monster, and you have the main character of Fox’s Golan the Insatiable.

The new animated comedy (premiering this Sunday at 9:30/8:30c) takes a “really spoiled Beverly Hills brat who’s never been told no” type and turns him into “a dark overlord with superpowers,” star Rob Riggle (Modern Family), who voices the titular creature, describes in TVLine’s exclusive first look.

Golan gets thrown for a loop when he’s transported from his Conan the Barbarian/Game of Thrones-style dimension to Oak Grove, Minn., where he befriends a “weird” 9-year-old girl (voiced by Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza). (Just how odd is the child? She envies Golan’s ability to cry out of his nipples.)

“At its heart, it’s a family show about a little girl and her giant, horrible monster friend,” executive producer Matt Silverstein adds.

OK, I like both Aubrey Plaza and Rob Riggle, but come on, even with “adult jokes” this will be a disaster. Is it too late to bring back The Cleveland Show?

    • 'A' Has Been Revived says:

The show was already on FOX’s ADHD block that aired late night on Saturdays from 2013-2014. It apparently did really well which is why they’re bringing it to Prime Time.

  2. c.Stulz says:

Aubrey sounds just like the original voice of Dylan, but as much as I like Rob Riggle, creator Josh Miller should have continued to voice Golan.
