It's Official: Undateable Renewed for Season 3, All Episodes to Air Live

Undateable Season 3

We can practically hear the glasses clinking at Black Eyes Bar today.

Not only is NBC’s Undateable officially returning for a third season, but the network has announced that every episode will air — wait for it — live!

The news comes on the heels of the show’s first-ever live episode airing earlier this week — an endeavor that attracted strong cameos, received positive reviews from critics and earned the comedy a slight ratings uptick.

Undateable fans, do you think Season 3 renewal and all-live twist? Drop a comment with your thoughts below.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

  1. Mr. Tran K says:

Glad to hear about the news but they better not do more LIVE episodes. DUH!

  2. AddieM says:

Great news about the renewal but they need to quit whilst they are ahead with this whole live episodes. The live episode was fun and all but it was quite messy and there was no continuity between scenes.

    • ? says:

Isn’t this a bit like learning a completely new play every week, only to perform it just twice? Good god, the amount of work. Expect to hear about a few cast departures before the new season as some of them decide “yeah, I didn’t sign up for THIS . . .”

  3. Cristina says:

So happy it will be back but all live episodes seems a bit much

  4. fringe30 says:

Not sure how I feel about the live episodes. It seems like a lot of work for the cast/crew, since they do a different one for East and West Coast. Want more Undateable not sure I want it all live.

    • NJMark says:

Where does it say they’re doing separate performances for each coast?

      • dan says:

The live episode this past week was done twice, first the East Coast/Central time zone feed, then the West Coast feed. The second episode was slightly different (Minnie Driver was replaced by the actress from Private Practice in the West Coast feed).

  5. Erika says:

Can’t bellieve Undateable is the only lone NBC comedy.

  6. Dave says:

Great news, the live episode this week was brilliant.

  7. Pam says:

Hope this happens. Loved the live episode. It was hilarious.

  8. Kate says:

I wouldn’t mind a live episode or two but not all. It would lose what makes it special. I think the content would suffer because they’d be really restricted on how many sets they could use in a show.

  9. Tom says:

I don’t know, it was good but you’re kinda restricted when you do live episodes

  10. Tom says:

They need to bring Briga Heelan back though that’s for certain

  11. 134sc says:

That live episode was hilarious. If they can pull that off every week, then I’m all for it.

  12. Joey Padron says:

happy the show renewed for another season and live episodes would be awesome!

  13. Riana says:

They should Victoria a regular. She was great

  14. Justsomeguy says:

Love Undateable, but I dunno about all live episodes. Sometimes less is more, ya know?

  15. luke says:

So NBC dumps Community but this **** is worthy of the airwaves. Good luck NBC staying in the last place. You belong there.

  16. Leah says:

I absolutely love Undateable. I did like it being “live” but every episode? Nah, once or twice a season “live” will be plenty.

  17. Robby says:

My favorite show! Maybe do a few “live” episodes around the Holidays but a whole season? Recipe for a cancellation.

  18. Rob says:

I don’t think the show should even return. It’s unwatchabele.

  19. Chad says:

Will it also be live on the West Coast or on tape delay? If they do two live episodes every week they should pay the actors for 44 episodes.

  20. androme3 says:

I really enjoyed the live episode; the cast was amazing together and the vibe was fantastic.
Fun fact: This series will be the first to air an entire season live, since Roc in 1992. Such a wonderful series. I can’t wait to see where this direction goes when Season 3 premieres. Not a huge hit for NBC but pretty respectable for the Peacock.

    • jbj says:

I forgot about Roc Live! It really helped that the main cast members were veteran stage actors. Multi-cam live acting is probably less strenuous on actors than single-cam regular, since you only have to do the shot once!

  21. Eva says:

Love this show !!! So happy its renewed. Maybe do one live episode per season, but nothing more than that, it would take away the excitement of it if it was done every episode.

  22. MTB says:

    Yes! Good show.

  23. Danna says:

Awesone… Their live show was great!

  24. G says:

Thrilled it’s coming back, but I’m a lil iffy about all episodes being live.

  25. The Truth says:

If they get rid of that horrible bad, bad acting disney star that I will tune in again. Otherwise no, thank you.

  26. Stacy says:

I don’t really like this show, but I’m impressed with the decision to air live episodes. I did watch the live show they just did, but the show was as lackluster as I remembered, combined with the very overt “we’re live! look at us!” humor.

  27. Karen Douds says:

The live episode was cute, and I enjoyed being in on the joke, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to do it that way every week. It’s one we watch every week, so I am glad that it was renewed, but hopefully they will get past the “live” idea.

  28. cyclone says:

I watched the live show as a one off after I heard the guest starts they brought on but Chris D’Elia’s Danny is a bit to annoying for me to be a continuous watcher. That being said the live episode was good for what it was but I doubt they can do this show live constantly.

  29. TV Gord says:

I guess NBC enjoyed last week’s LIVE episode as much as I did!

  30. Keith says:

I’m just glad it got renewed. I liked the live episode.

  31. Luis says:

Wow, that’s ambitious. We love the show!

  32. Donna says:

Love the show.! Not crazy about the live every week.
