Donald Glover Finally Gets to Play Spider-Man — With a Twist

Community_Troy_SpiderManDonald Glover, who during his run on NBC’s Community threw his hat into the ring to play the next big screen Spider-Man, finally will be slinging some web.

As an animated Spidey, on Disney XD’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors series.

As first reported by USA Today, Glover has lent his pipes to the role of Miles Morales, a half-Hispanic, half-black 13-year-old who meets Peter Parker when Spider-Man prime travels to the alternate dimension where Miles crawls walls.

“If you’ve read Miles Morales comics [which debuted in August 2011], Donald’s voice nails what you’ve been reading,” the VP of Marvel Television’s animation division tells the Nation’s Newspaper.

Glover’s character — introduced in the video below (c/o USA Today) — will make his debut in an arc airing next year. Season 3 of Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors premieres Sunday at 9 am ET)
