On Tuesday night’s Tonight Show, a verklempt Jimmy Fallon paid tribute to Robin Williams, the “unbelievable” comic genius who earlier this week died of suicide.

Fallon, his voice repeatedly catching, starts off by hailing Williams’ caliber of comedy, at one point briefly illustrating it with his own impression. He then tees up a classic clip of Williams’ very first Tonight Show visit, opposite Johnny Carson, in which the whirlwind of wit kept the camera men on their toes.
Because of taping schedules, Conan O’Brien was the first late-night host to mark Williams’ tragic passing, solemnly relaying the news, as it broke, to his studio audience on Monday afternoon.
