Scoop: CSI: Cyber Adds Peter MacNicol as a Series Regular

CSI: Cyber continues to flesh out its ensemble, adding Emmy winner Peter MacNicol as a series regular.

The Ally McBeal/Numb3rs vet will play Assistant Director Stavros Sifter, 40, a career FBI insider and supervisor of Special Agent Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette) for the Cyber Crime Division in Washington, D.C.

Sifter quickly rose up the ranks and positioned himself in a job where he is the clearinghouse between FBI Cyber and all other branches of government. He is a shrewd and savvy networker — a charmer with a hint of malice.

The CSI: Cyber cast also includes Community‘s Charley Koontz as Agent Daniel Grummitz.

MacNicol’s recent credits include guest stints on The Mindy Project and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

CBS is eyeing a midseason launch for the CSI spin-off.

  1. Jax says:

I was already going to check the show out because of Arquette but this has me more interested now.

  2. Andrew says:

Am I the only one who thinks the title of the show is awful? They should call it “CSI: Cyber Crimes,” not just Cyber. It just sounds too singular to me.

  3. Hello, its pleasant paragraph concerning media print, we all be familiar with media is a wonderful source of data.

  4. arial2 says:

I was excited about this until I read the character description. I was hoping for some of the quirkiness Peter MacNicol does so well, but this character sounds anything but quirky. Loved his Professor Larry Fleinhardt in Numb3rs.

  5. DL says:

With this, I might actually check out the show.

  6. Sara says:

Poughkeepsie! Love MacNicol but not the CSI type shows

  7. Swift says:

    What a waste of talent.

  8. Joey says:

    Peter deserves better than this.

  9. felinefan55 says:

It says that the character is supposed to be 40. I just did the math and found out that Peter in 60!! He does NOT look it.

  10. Pat says:

I liked Peter MacNicol’s in Numbers and I am happy to see that he will be in CSI:Cyber. I am looking forward to seeing this new spin-off of CSI.

  11. Steven says:

Love Patricia Arquette and Peter MacNicol so this is great!

  12. Jenna says:

I finally gave up on CSI last year. It was a tuff habit to break, but the writing just sucks, and the old and new actors are merely going thru the motions. It’s become just another CBS procedural, and the characters cliche. But I like Arquette and MacNicol, so will give Cyber a chance.

  13. ZhaneEndrick says:

Does anyone else think this is sounding more and more like a show that they just slapped the “CSI” moniker on?

  14. danny says:

I loved Peter MaCnicol in Numb3ers and well everything. I Hope CBS makes him a little out there because that is what he is good at!

  15. Buff Buff says:

He’s way too old to play a 40 year old wunderkind, very poor casting choice

  16. Like Peter MacNicol as a hero in my mind :)

  17. matt says:

Any show with peter is good for me, numbers was not the same when he left the show

  18. I was hoping for some of the quirkiness Peter MacNicol does so well, but this character sounds anything but quirky. So, i love it :D
