What to Watch Sunday: Devious Maids Return, Salem Casts a Spell, SNL Spoofs Veep and More

8 pm A Day Late and a Dollar Short (Lifetime) | When short-tempered matriarch Viola Price (Whoopi Goldberg) learns that her next asthma attack will likely kill her, she is determined to fix her fractured family before her time is up. (Sounds feel-good to me!)

9 pm Orphan Black (BBC America) | Season 2 premiere: Desperate to find her daughter, Sarah suspects Rachel is behind her disappearance and sparks an all-out war. (Get scoop here and here.)

9 pm Billy Crystal 700 Sundays (HBO) | In this original two-act play, the comedian plays numerous characters who have influenced who he is today.

9 pm Da Vinci’s Demons (Starz) | Leonardo reunites with Riario and Nico in the New World, and Lorenzo attempts to save Florence.

10 pm The Real History of Science Fiction (BBC America) | Series premiere: Narrated by Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss, this four-part series aims to discover why science fiction is more than just a genre. Naturally, the first installment is all about robots of the movies and TV.

8 pm Once Upon a Time (ABC) | Regina casts a spell through which she can speak to Zelena’s dead mother, Cora, to discover the truth about why she abandoned Zelena. In the Fairy Tale Land That Was, young Cora (played by Rose McGowan, Charmed) is duped by a man claiming to be a prince. Happens to the best of us, girl.

8 pm Call the Midwife (PBS) | Jenny’s patient Leah struggles to cope with her mother’s agoraphobia, as well as her own pregnancy.

9 pm Believe (NBC) | After an intense confrontation with Zepeda leaves Bo vulnerable, Winter turns to guardians from Bo’s past.

9 pm Lindsay (OWN) | Two-hour season finale: Ms. Lohan deals with a scandal following her trip to Miami, heads to Sundance to announce her new movie and — wait for it — addresses the public leak of her private list of lovers. (I have so many questions.)

9 pm Turn (AMC) | Ben is betrayed by his own militia while on the run from the British.

9:30 pm Californication (Showtime) | Hank is surprised during a visit to Levon’s apartment.

10 pm Salem (WGN America) | Series premiere: In 17th century Massachusetts, war veteran John Alden (Shane West, Nikita) returns home, only to find the town of Salem is on the hunt for witches… and one of the targets is his love, Mary (Janet Montgomery, Dancing on the Edge), who has since married another man. 10 pm The Mentalist (CBS) | When a woman is found murdered near a remote men’s social club, Patrick Jane must work his way into the insular group to find the killer. (Watch a sneak peek.)
