Law & Order alum Alana de la Garza, Oscar nominee/former Coven member Gabourey Sidibe and American Dreams dad/Scandal director Tom Verica are among the latest actors to book pilots this winter.

* De la Garza has landed the female lead in ABC’s Forever, playing Jo Martinez, a recently widowed NYPD homicide detective who is impressed and intrigued by the insights of medical examiner Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), who, unbeknownst to anyone, studies the dead because he is immortal.
* Sidibe has boarded Empire, Fox’s hip-hop drama from Lee Daniels, Danny Strong and Brian Graze, as the hard-working assistant to record mogul Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard).
* Verica has joined How To Get Away With Murder, ABC’s Shonda Rhimes-produced legal thriller about a criminal defense professor Annalise DeWitt (Viola Davis), who becomes involved in a murder plot. Verica will play Annalise’s husband Tom, a psychology professor.
