Tina Fey has plucked one of her 30 Rock co-stars to play a supporting role in Tooken, NBC’s new Ellie Kemper-fronted straight-to-series comedy Fey is producing-writing with her Rock partner Robert Carlock.
Per Deadline, Tituss Burgess, who recurred as D’Fwan, a member of Tracy Jordan‘s wife’s entourage, on Rock, will portray the gay, larger-than-life BFF of Kemper’s cult survivor.
Theater-vet Burgess has appeared in such Broadway productions as Guys and Dolls, The Little Mermaid and Rent.
The single-camera comedy — set to premiere in Fall 2014 — centers on a woman (Kemper) who escapes from a doomsday cult and starts life over in New York City.
