Hannibal‘s Laurence Fishburne is looking to lighten things up next fall.
The actor has officially joined the cast of Black-ish, ABC’s Anthony Anderson-fronted comedy pilot about an upper-middle class black man struggling to raise his children with a sense of cultural identity despite constant contradictions and obstacles coming from his liberal wife, old school father and his own assimilated, color-blind kids.

Fishburne will recur as the aforementioned old school father. (Fun fact: Fishburne is an EP on Black-ish, so I guess you could say he had an inside track on the role.)
The potential series is being penned by Kenya Barris (The Game).
Fishburne, who could conceivably juggle Black-ish with a potential third season of Hannibal, is also currently developing a drama series for HBO.
