While Brandon is confessing, Callie is on lockdown at a group home run by guest star Rosie O’Donnell.

“Callie’s not able to leave the house except for particular reasons,” explains stars Maia Mitchell. “And she’s just been in trouble, so she’s just been told that her family won’t be able to come and visit, so she won’t be able to see Jude.”

Needless to say, “she’s not feeling the greatest,” continues Mitchell, “and then Brandon drops the ‘I love you’ bomb to the family and doesn’t know what else to do, so he comes and tries to visit Callie.”

While their reunion might seem like a welcome moment, judging from their hug glimpsed in new promos, rules are broken in the process — beware Rosie O’Donnell’s wrath! — “and things go from bad to worse” for the twosome.

But that’s just par for the course for Callie and Brandon, who “will always have difficulties,” says Mitchell. “You see them go on a bit of a journey and really try to find a good balance.”

At least things are looking up for another troubled relationship. “I think Jude starts to really warm up to Brandon, and he understands the love that he feels for his sister,” shares Hayden Byerly. “He doesn’t like it, but he understands it.”
