Ratings: Last Man Rises, MasterChef Junior Drops, CBS Friday Ticks Down

Ratings Hawaii Five-0Last Man Standing got ABC’s Friday off to a good start this week, rising 9 percent and two tenths to 6.2 million total viewers and a 1.4 demo rating.

Leading out of that, The Neighbors held steady with 4.1 mil and a 1.0. But Shark Tank, come 9 o’clock, dipped 9 percent and two tenths to 6.3 mil/1.8 (yet still netted the night’s best demo).

Over on CBS, Undercover Boss (7.6 mil/1.4) was down two tenths in the demo from its premiere. Hawaii Five-0 (9.6 mil/1.5) added a few eyeballs but ticked down a tenth from its own opener (lemme guess, Tim Daly wasn’t really looking for his “daughter”?). Blue Bloods (11.1 mil/1.4) dropped three tenths but, as usual, commanded Friday’s largest audience.

Fox’s MasterChef Junior cooked up 3.9 mil and a 1.3 in Week 2, falling 9 percent and three tenths from its launch. This Friday’s Sleepy Hollow encore added 2.2 mil and a 0.7 to the already-renewed-for-Season 2 drama’s weekly haul.

The CW’s Next Top Model was flat at 1.1 mil0.4.

Wow. Is that a series low for ANTM? Time for cancelation, I think. Well overdue as a matter of fact.

    • Brandy says:

No that’s not series low (series low is 0.2 after footballpreemption adjustments).and since cycle 18 (this is 20) it’s been getting 0.4-0.6.Its already casting /taking applications for cycle 21.Just cause you don’t like a show dosent and shouldn’t mean it should be cancelled. Also, the 0.4-0.6 is on par with all but three or four CW shows. Its sold internatinally, syndicated and it Whose Line are /have been CWs highest rated longest running reality shows (though neither are CW originals).

      • David4 says:

Wow, do you work for the government? Because that’s some classic spin!

Bringing in Whose Line which isn’t a CW show, is a comedy sketch show, and not reality was for what reasons? All JJM was asking is asking is if the ratings were horrible enough to get it canceled yet.

I think CW has given up, it’s probably next to nothing to make and fills in an hour or two a week, that’s the only reason it’s still around.

I tried not to be rude to shows but the Neighbors needs to go, abc does fine with 6 million each Friday but it’s being stop by the neighbors, cancel it and move trophy wife goldbergs or back in the game here. I prefer lms and back in the game together and then goldbergs and trophy wife move to wed. With middle and modern family.

  3. WyldeMan52 says:

No Matt, you guessed wrong, Tim Daly’s character was in fact looking for his actual daughter.

  4. Sarah says:

Seeing how MasterChef Jr dropped from last week, I hope Bones will do better and be steadier when it moves there in November.

  5. Still Terry says:

Actually, Tim Daly was looking for his daughter on Hawaii Five-0, but thanks for the sarcasm.

  6. Leah says:

Second week and Hawaii has dropped already. The show is awful , CBS did the right moving it to Fridays. Two more weeks and Grimm will be back. I can’t wait.
    ABC won the night!

    • rowan77 says:

The season premiere of every show will have higher ratings/share because people are looking in to see if they want to watch this season – and because many times, the episode answers the questions left by the previous season’s cliffhanger. Those are look-in numbers and are never considered and accurate accounting of viewers. The 2nd – 6th episodes will give a better idea of how the audience is liking the new season.

    • miracle says:

Not really a drop. Matt compares the overnight rating of this ep 4.02 (1.5) with the final rating of the season opener (1.6). The overnight rating of the season opener was also 1.5, with about 200.000 viewers less than for 4.02. Let’s wait and see what the final rating for 4.02 shows and than compare again.

      • Pam says:

First episode did 1.5/1.6 in the half hours.
        Second episode 1.4/1.5.
        It dropped.
And it will drop more when Grimm returns.

        • miracle says:

What counts for me is the end result, and that is 1.5 in overnight rating for the premiere ep and 1.5 in overnight rating for 4.02, both according to tv by the numbers. I don’t care much about half hour results and how many tuned in or out during the episodes. But this may be because of my non US citizen lack of understanding Nielsen ratings.

    • h50 fan says:

Well Leah h50 does NOT SUCK and if you read the above it says added viewers BUT the demo was down. Over 9 million proves that it is doing just fine, it actually is doing way better than CSI NY did AND it is doing better than it did on Mondays when it was up against Castle.!

  7. missvci says:

how does last man standing get more viewers than Parenthood? Why are people so stupid!

    • opus says:

Last Man Standing has virtually no competition. Did you see Scandal’s numbers from Thursday night? Parenthood (one of my favorite shows) has to compete against that and Elementary as well. NBC has had no luck with Thursdays at 10 lately and may end up losing one of its best shows.

      • JLK says:

Honestly, I think the reason they moved Parenthood to Thursdays is because they’ve been doing badly in that spot. Rather than lose money on another expensive gamble against shows that will destroy them, it seems like they thought it was smarter to move an established show with dedicated fans into the timeslot. Parenthood’s been on the air for years now and has never had huge numbers. It’s been on the bubble for renewal pretty much every season. This season will undoubtedly be more of the same for the show, but the expectations are low for Thursday night. The NBC execs couldn’t have been delusional enough to think that people were going to jump into the show now and increase the ratings in the demo 50% or anything. It’s just a nice capper for them this season because most of the Thursday night sitcoms are family-oriented.

    • Shaun says:

Because it’s basically an ABC family type show but on NBC :p

  8. Chablis says:

Been a fan of Blue Bloods but it’s really all over the place. Is Donnie Walhberg the only person on this show? I know CBS is not a fan of women, but could they maybe give Bridget Moynihan a storyline? And what happened to Franks blonde assistant? She just disappeared without an explanation.

    • Samantha Rose says:

I completely agree about Donnie Wahlberg. I have watched since the first episode and really wish they would integrate this rest of the family more especially Erin and Jamie. I think they are wasting a lot of potential with those 2 actors.

    • Marie says:

I agree, the female characters, and thus the show, could be more well rounded. They could do more with both Bridget Moynihan and Amy Carlson. Ever since Jennifer Esposito, who really clicked with Wahlberg, left, they’ve partnered him with one younger female detective after another, regardless of the fit or chemistry. Maybe they (the show or CBS) think they are balancing things out, but filling a role with a token female doesn’t help the show out at all.

  9. Pam says:

I really hope h50 ends this year. After all it is a failure for TNT in syndication. Scott C. is too good to be in this type of crap. The man is a real actor and deserves better. He should dump this show ASAP.

    • RI says:

Actually, this is the first show I’ve liked him in. I didn’t like him at all in Entourage and Ocean’s 11.

    • Linda says:

Scott may actually want to leave HF-0. Fortunately, he has enough interests that would keep him
busy. He couldn’t carry the lead role in a tv series, though. It must be his teeny role in Entourage, and his blink-and-you’ll-miss-it roles in the “Oceans” movies, that make him such a star. He’s lucky to have a job !!

      • Sheri says:

I say Alex and DDK are the only ones interested in h50.
. DDK. because has been in the Island for years and it was said he was the one approaching CBS for a role because he had been jobless since Lost.
Alex because all he has in his back are canceled shows and a movie that tanked. Oh wait, and that cheap movie in which he is naked , a fan favorite of his grandma fans . And this show would had been canceled without the syndication deal. Guest stars steal the show for him each week. So I don’t see him having offers waiting for him after h50.
Scott was the only one nominated for a Golden Globe because of the show, called a breakout star , plus media said he steals tbe show. and he has been working during the h50 hiatus.
Scott has a future after h50.

        • miracle says:

Just for the record: Most fans I know aren’t grandma’s at all, me included. I don’t know which of the two, actually three movies you mean where he was naked, but at least two of them are fan favorites because of his excellent acting abilities, nothing else.

        • Linda says:

No one has been saying Scott steals the show for ages. What I’ve read mostly is how annoying his character is. Of course, that is the fault of the writers.
Just because Scott got an Emmy nomination and Alex didn’t, doesn’t mean Alex isn’t a good actor.
It’s much easier to get a nomination in the best supporting actor category, than the lead actor category, because that category has been dominated by cable shows with, I believe just one
network actor included in the past two seasons. Networks don’t even bother putting forward their
actors’ names. You can argue this all you want, bit it’s a fact.
Alex has a large fan base, and I think he will have a movie career afterwards. He can be much
more than just eye candy. You’d be doing yourself a favour to see some of his other work, including his Criminal Minds episode, unless you’re just interested in being nasty. You don’t have
to like Alex, but there are millions around the world who do.

  10. Shaun says:

Can we get some Haven numbers?

  11. shar says:

Hawaii 5-0 and Blue Bloods are my favorites. They are great shows and great entertainment.
