Finale Ratings: Grimm Improves on Season 1 Closer, DWTS Down 21 Percent Vs. Year Ago

Ratings Dancing With the Stars Finale GrimmNBC’s Grimm boxed up its sophomore season with an audience of 5.22 million viewers and a 1.7 rating, steady week-to-week in the demo and up a tenth from its freshman finale (which aired on a Friday).

Leading into that, The Voice (10 mil/3.1) was down 5 and 11 percent week-to-week.

Over on ABC, Dancing With the Stars drew 15 mil and a 2.6, up sharply week-to-week but plunging 16 and 21 percent from the competition’s year-ago coronation ceremony to hit an all-time finale low. (Ergo ipso facto, no more results shows.) The Bachelor’s Funniest Moments (of, I presume, so, so, so many) opened ABC’s night with 4.7 mil/1.2.

Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance (4.6 mil/1.9) dipped 10 percent in total audience but was steady in the demo versus its season opener.

SYTYCD needs to rise, it needs to live on several more years, or at least one more.

  2. Maggie says:

so happy to hear Grimm’s audience went up! it looks like the show is headed back to Fridays in the fall, hopefully bringing some new fans with it!

I will be the first to admit I didn’t like Grimm when it first aired and tended to listen to the critics when it came to their criticism of the main character(bland, boring and uninteresting.) I am so happy I came down with the flu and was so bored that I watched every episode that I missed; because it is good, really good, the cast gelled, the episodes tightened up and they had an actual plot…I was hooked. Season 2 was even better and I can’t wait for what season 3 has in store for us.

  4. Jake says:

Why won’t abc move dancing out from Mondays and competing with the voice?? It showed that when it doesn’t compete against the voice that it gets at least a 3 in the almighty demos. I don’t agree with the removal of the results, if anything, make it a half hour

  5. Joely says:

I love Grimm, but thanks to that comatose actress who plays Juliet having a bigger role this season, I found that I was merely tolerating the show a lot of the time, waiting for her scenes to end. So I’m nervous about season 3. She had the same expression on her face the entire season. Now she is going to be involved in the cases because she’s a veterinarian? Oof. I’d be more interested in Hank doing more with his knowledge of ancient anthropology – better yet – bring in his ex-wife in with her degree and their troubled relationship going back and forth. And BTW, Russell Hornsby is better at high drama than he is at the mundane, “Let’s go check it out,” kinda stuff. Give him more crazy to do, and give Wu a life, too.
