What to Watch Wednesday: New Nashville, Fox Takes a Dive, People's Choice Awards and More

Fox divingOn TV this Wednesday: Fox puts Stars in Danger, mob rule reigns at the People’s Choice Awards, Nashville sings again, Horror Story: Asylum milks its antepenultimate episode for all it’s worth and Suburgatory tries to be fly. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (always linked within), here are 10 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm Stars in Danger: The High Dive (Fox) | Fox jumps into the diving-show pool first (ABC’s Celebrity Diving debuts in March) with this two-hour special in which “stars” learn Olympic-style dives and then perform them in a competition. Those taking the plunge include Stephen “Twitch” Boss (So You Think You Dance), David Chokachi (Baywatch), Jenni “JWoww” Farley (Jersey Shore), surfer Bethany Hamilton and Antonio Sabato Jr. (General Hospital, pictured right).

8 pm I Get That a Lot (CBS) | In this latest installment of the celeb prank show, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman‘s Jane Seymour poses as an inept store greeter and Dallas‘ Larry Hagman – who taped the appearance before his death last month – hands out food samples at a warehouse shopping club.

8 pm The Middle (ABC) | Dave Foley (NewsRadio) returns as Brick’s school therapist Dr. Fulton, who tries to teach the socially awkward kiddo how to make friends. (Good luck there, Dr. Fulton.)

9 pm People’s Choice Awards 2013 (CBS) | You voted – now watch the annual live awards broadcast to see if your favorite shows, movies and musicians take home the proletariat-picked prize. The Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco returns as host; Friends‘ Jennifer Aniston, NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Chris O’Donnell, Happy Endings‘ Casey Wilson and The Newsroom‘s Olivia Munn are among those scheduled to appear.

9 pm Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC) | A rape victim in an SVU case is arrested for the murder of her ex-boyfriend. Jane Kaczmarek (Malcom in the Middle) guest-stars as the Suffolk County D.A., and Raul Esparza is back as D.A. Barba.

9 pm Modern Family (ABC) | Jay’s big plans for a New Year’s Eve getaway with the family go south… that is, until he has a chance run-in with Billy Dee “Lando Calrissian” Williams, playing himself.

9:30 pm Suburgatory (ABC) | When Tessa and Dalia’s argument also causes a rift between George and Dallas,CONNIE BRITTON, HAYDEN PANETTIEREthere’s really only one way to solve it: old skool hip-hop dance off! (Seriously!)

10 pm Chicago Fire (NBC) | Severide finaly tells Chief Boden about his injury and makes some important decisions about his future.

10 pm American Horror Story: Asylum (FX) | For your pleasure/horror this evening: Bloody Face Jr. in a truly insane opening scene, Lana kicking serious butt and a surprising return. (Get more scoop in Ask Ausiello.) After this, there are two episodes left in the season. Word to the wise? Don’t miss a minute.

10 pm Washington Heights (MTV) | Two-hour series premiere: The former music channel leaves the shore behind and heads north, where it follows a group of best friends living in the upper Manhattan neighborhood of Washington Heights.
