Cougar Town‘s new cable home on TBS won’t be the only change for the show next season. It will also have a new leader.

Co-creators Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel will be stepping down from to day-to-day showrunner duties on the comedy series, now wrapping its third season on ABC, Vulture reports.
Star Courteney Cox broke the news to the site, saying, “[Season 4] is a fresh start. It will feel like the same show, but we’re going to have a new [showunner], there will be new people, new changes.”
The move isn’t a complete surprise. Lawrence’s development deal with Warner Bros. TV last year called for the producer to leave his top post at Cougar Town after Season 3 to focus on new projects. Still, Lawrence maintains that he and Biegel will be involved in the show’s renaissance on TBS.
“A.) chill. B.) neither Kev nor I currently have shows, so we will both work on CT, C.) if we do get shizz going, we need great guy in place,” Lawrence tweeted Wednesday afternoon.
